On Thursday, November 30, 2017, it was signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Faculty of Engineering Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and Kyoto University. This event was held at Stadium General (SG) F1 building on Faculty of Engineering UMY. It was attended by representatives of Kyoto University, Dean of Faculty of Engineering UMY, Secretary of Civil Engineering Department, Secretary of Electrical Engineering Department, several lecturers and students representatives from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.

This MoU is a cooperation between Faculty of Engineering Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and Kyoto University in the field of education and scientific research at the Faculty of Engineering including student exchanges program, staff and lecturers exchange program. UMY and Kyoto University will conduct joint research and meeting for research, public lecture, workshop and other international agendas.

The dean of Faculty of Engineering UMY, Mr. Jazaul Ikhsan S.T., M.T., Ph.D said that Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is ready to send its students, staffs and lecturers to study at Kyoto University for next agenda. This exchange will be carried out every year for 5 years. Hopefully this cooperation between Faculty of Engineering UMY and Kyoto University can improve understanding and knowledge for students, staff and UMY lecturers both of universities.

Professor Masaharu Fujita as the representative of Kyoto University was expressed his gratitude for a good acceptance and hoped that the cooperation between Kyoto and UMY can run favorable and good in the future. After the signing of the MoU at Stadium General of Faculty Engineering UMY, Professor Masaharu Fujita also became an International Guest Lecture for students of Faculty of Engineering UMY.
